Lyttelton Engineering is the largest engineering facility in the Port of Lyttelton. With a large, well equipped workshop situated alongside the only dry dock in the South Island, we are well positioned to provide efficient servicing and repair capabilities to owners of vessels either using the dry dock or passing through the port.
The dry dock has a floor length of 137m, floor width of 14m and can accommodate vessels with up to 18.8m beam and 6.1m draught. The company is equipped to conduct surveys to the requirements of any classification society and a range of work including but not limited to; propeller shaft and rudder overhauls and replacements, hull and structural repairs, engine work, painting, shipwrighting and electrical work.
Repairs and maintenance work to vessels can be carried out alongside in Lyttelton port including major refit or vessel modification work. We can provide service or repair teams at other South Island ports, or to carry out work on voyage if required.
We provide a full vessel management service if required, including contractor, health and safety and work permit coordination. We provide or arrange facilities for ship’s crew including a superintendent’s office, crew galley and washroom facilities ashore and wifi internet access
We undertake up to 30 major surveys and dockings each year on a range of vessels including fishing trawlers, cargo vessels, tugs, gas carriers and dredging vessels.
